Why Stay in Norwich?

Being our ‘local’ city, we love coming to Norwich for breaks and escapes ourselves. It’s something different to the smaller North Norfolk town we call home. The apartment is quiet and smart and offers easy access to this great little city, perfect for a dose of history, entertainment, bars, restaurants, shopping, activities and local countryside, Broads and market towns.

Once at 106 we park the car up in the garaging and generally leave it there.

We swim at Riverside Leisure Centre, which is genuinely a 2-3 minute walk, we have a drink at Yellows diner at Carrow Road, we run or cycle at Whittlingham Broad next to Trowse, you can park there or walk round. We walk into Norwich either via King Street, which is ancient, or along the Riverside Walk past the entertainment area with bowls, cinema & restaurants.

Norwich Lanes is our favourite place for milling around and that ‘old town’ buzz. The children love Chapelfields for chain shopping and that modern shopping mall feel.

For history we have visited Norwich Cathedral, and one couple staying at 106 were actually exhibiting there for two weeks. The Roman Catholic Cathedral is stunning, near this The Plantation Garden is simply a real treat for a ‘time out’ or for admiring the planting, at any time of year.

Guests who have stayed come for lots of reasons. Some ladies have stayed to ‘escape’ for a girls weekend, couples come for long weekends and full week holidays to explore Norfolk and Norwich and The Broads, one lady came from Canada, and could see that 106 is safe and she felt secure as she was a lone traveller. Quite a few guests are travelling alone. Some come to visit their children, studying at University of East Anglia. Many stay to visit local family, who don’t have room to accommodate them. Also we have welcomed professionals working with the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital or at The UEA. We have accommodated guests from Spain, France, Australia, Gibraltar and from UK towns as close as Peterborough, and up to Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Scotland and the South of England. Some have travelled very widely, and have decided to concentrate on the UK and what’s closer to home.

We try to keep booking as simple as possible, and are usually available to receive phone calls, texts and emails either before, during or after guests stay…
