Sitting at home with my first cup of tea of the day (why does this one always go down so well?), just thinking about helping guests keep the car in the covered parking and getting out and about on foot during their short break in Norwich. We hardly ever use the car, whilst staying at Riverside, which means the apartment is perfect for those arriving by train at Norwich Rail Station.
We love eating out (previous posts may have hinted at this!), but not just for dinner. Sometimes we have breakfast out, it might be Weatherspoons a five minute walk away on Riverside. It might be No 33 in the city centre, where the breakfast is so delicious and we like to sit in the window on a stool and watch the world go by.
We love cake, and our latest find for this is Ann at the Cupcakes and Co stall on Norwich Market, she personally cooks up and sells such delights as (last weekend) Courgette and I think Orange Cake and huge slabs of Chocolate Tiffin.
If you like a more traditional light lunch but to shop on the way to it, try the top floor restaurant at Jarrolds our own Norwich Department store, with good views over Norwich Market to The Forum, they serve anything from roasts to sandwich and soup. We also love Louis Deli in Upper St Giles Street for a very casual, relaxed, ‘get your paper out and chill’ type lunch, pick food straight from the counter or have them make you a fresh sandwich. Stock up on super cheese, Italian Chocolate, Locally made bread or freshly prepared ready meals to pop in the oven at 106.
Fine dining is readily available in Norwich, and Norwich Lanes are full of great choices, Roger Hickman’s, Bnou, Bishops, Benedicts.
And of course Pizza Express, Prezzo, Gourmet Burger, Zizi are all available if you fancy making it casual or want to spend your Tesco vouchers! These can be found at Riverside, Tombland and near Chapelfields.
Moving on from food, things to do, without the car include Norwich Castle, Norwich Cathedral, swim, gym or sauna at Riverside Leisure Centre just behind us. A stroll through the tranquil Plantation Garden, jog around Eaton Park or around the grounds of The UEA. Shopping at Chapelfields or Castle Mall shopping centres. A look at the independent shops of Norwich Lanes, Elm Hill and Tombland. Skiing at Norfolk Snow Sports Club at Trowse, canoeing on The River Wensum or hire a bike from Bicycle Links here on King Street.
